The Engineering department handles a variety of utilities and maintenance functions to keep operations smooth. Here’s a quick rundown of the utilities and their roles.
1. Boilers
- Provide steam for heating, processing, or sterilization.
- Essential in dairies for pasteurization and cleaning
2. Refrigeration Plant
- Maintains low temperatures for storage and processing of milk and dairy products.
- Critical to prevent spoilage and maintain product quality.
3. ETP (Effluent Treatment Plant)
- Treats wastewater and effluents before discharge to ensure environmental compliance.
- Important for sustainable operations and reducing pollution.
4. Diesel Generator (DG)
- Provides backup power during electricity outages to avoid downtime.
- Ensures continuous operation, especially in critical systems like refrigeration.
5. Electrical Substation
- Manages and distributes electrical power within the facility.
- Includes transformers, switch-gear, and controls to ensure safe and reliable electricity supply.

Engineering Team of Goa Dairy
- Incharge – Engineering
Overall responsible for managing the entire engineering department and ensuring smooth operations of all utilities and maintenance activities. - Maintenance Supervisors – 2 nos (for both shifts)
Supervise maintenance activities and coordinate teams during their respective shifts. - Electricians – 4 nos
Handle electrical systems maintenance, repairs, and troubleshooting. - Refrigeration Operators – 3 nos
Operate and maintain refrigeration plants to ensure proper cooling and storage. - Boiler Operators – 4 nos
Operate and maintain boilers to supply steam for plant processes. - ETP Operators – 3 nos
Manage the effluent treatment plant operations, ensuring wastewater treatment and environmental compliance. - General Maintenance – 3 nos
Responsible for overall upkeep, repairs, and support in production area and engineering utilities.
Other Responsibilities of the Engineering Section
- Verification and Stamping of Weighing Equipment
- All weighing scales and the weighing bridge at Goa Dairy are subject to periodic verification and stamping by the Legal Metrology Department, Government of Goa.
- This process ensures the accuracy of measurements and compliance with legal standards./
2. IBR Boiler Maintenance and Verification
- Regular maintenance of boilers adhering to Indian Boiler Regulations (IBR) is carried out.
- Verification and certification are conducted by the Inspectorate of Boilers, Government of Goa, to ensure safety and regulatory compliance.
3.Monitoring and Compliance of ETP Effluent and Environmental Parameters
- Continuous monitoring of raw effluent, treated effluent, and other environmental parameters from the Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP) is mandatory.
- These parameters must stay within limits prescribed by the Goa State Pollution Control Board (GSPCB).
- All relevant data and reports are submitted and uploaded to the GSPCB portal as per the scheduled requirements to ensure transparency and environmental compliance.
