EDP – IT Section: Goa State Co-operative Milk Producers’ Union Ltd. (Goa Dairy)

The EDP-IT Section of Goa Dairy plays a pivotal role in supporting the Union’s digital transformation, data management, and technology-driven service delivery. This department is responsible for planning, implementing, managing, and maintaining the technological infrastructure that facilitates efficient and transparent operations across various departments of the organization.

Core Functions and Responsibilities

  1. ERP System Management

    • Overseeing the implementation, operation, and maintenance of the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software, which integrates functions such as procurement, milk collection, quality control, distribution and inventory.

    • Ensuring seamless coordination between departments through ERP modules to improve data accuracy and decision-making.

  2. Data Management and Reporting

    • Collection, processing, and analysis of operational data including milk procurement, sales trends, stock movement, and DCS payments.

    • Data processing of milk incentive bills.

    • Generation of periodic reports.

  3. IT Infrastructure Maintenance

    • Management of computer systems, printers, servers, UPS systems, and network devices.

    • Ensuring continuous IT support and minimizing system downtime through timely maintenance.

  4. Software Support and Troubleshooting

    • Providing user support and training to employees across departments for smooth use of ERP and other software tools.

    • Addressing software errors, data entry issues, and system bugs in coordination with external vendors and developers.

  5. Digital Communication and Email Services

    • Management of domain-based official email accounts for Sectional Heads.

    • Ensuring secure communication channels within the organization.

  6. Project Planning and Automation Initiatives

    • Identifying scope for automation in various operations such as milk testing, billing, procurement records, vehicle tracking, and gate pass systems.

    • Collaborating with vendors and technology partners for new IT projects and digital upgradation.

  7. AMC and Vendor Management

    • Handling Annual Maintenance Contracts (AMC) for hardware, ERP software, and networking equipment.

Recent Initiatives

  • Proposal and implementation of new ERP software to replace outdated legacy systems for improved performance and compliance.

  • Introduction of domain-based email systems to strengthen internal communication and corporate identity.

  • Planning the installation of centralized UPS systems to replace obsolete individual units with frequent battery failures.
