Veterinary

The Veterinary Section of Goa Dairy plays a vital role in supporting dairy farmers affiliated to Goa Dairy through the Primary Dairy Co-operative Societies at village level. The Goa Dairy services offers a vast range of services to enhance animal health and support our farmers.

1. Veterinary Services

1. 24×7 Veterinary Services: Services are offered on a single phone call at Goa Dairy at any time, Day or Night.

2. Provides Specialized operative services like C-Section, Rumenotomy, fetotomy, hernia etc., through veterinary doctors.

3. We have a total 4 dispensaries located across Goa. Dispensaries offers service handling emergency cases, providing veterinary medicines to the farmers. AI services are also offered to the farmers. Supply of LN₂ and Semen are also offered through dispensary to the AI workers to provide the AI services to the farmers.

• Ponda Office located at Curti Ponda Goa 403401. Covering areas are Ponda, Dharbhandora, Salcete, Mormugao Taluka.

• Zonal Veterinary Dispensary Colvale located at Opp.to Grampachayat Colvale, Bardez Goa 403513. Covering areas for the dispensary are in Bardez, Pernem Taluka.

• Zonal Veterinary Dispensary Curchorem located at the Market yard, Curchorem Goa 403706. Covering areas for the dispensary are in Sanguem, Quepem, cancona, Salcete Taluka.

• Zonal Veterinary Dispensary Sankhali located at Karapur Tisk Sankhali Goa. Covering areas for the dispensary are in Bicholim, Sattari Taluka.

2. Mobile Veterinary Ambulance Services

i) Goa Dairy has started round the clock veterinary ambulance services to provide timely and accessible veterinary care in the mining affected areas of North and South district of the Goa State. The Veterinary Ambulances have been funded by District Mineral Foundation North Goa and South Goa.

ii) Mobile Veterinary Ambulance is equipped with Veterinary medicine, surgical items, accessories required for the treatment of the animals at the doorstep of farmers.

iii) Provides Cow lifting crate service for recumbent animals at reasonable rates.

3. Extension education activities

i) Provides Extension education activities for farmers regarding dairy farm management, farmers visits to progressive farmers outside state.

ii) Organise Mass deworming programme in association with state AH&VS Department.

4. Dairy Farm Consultancy Services

It aimed to provide expert guidance and tailored solutions to optimize dairy farm operations, aiming to enhance productivity, improve animal health, for improved milk production.

5. Veterinary Medicines

i) We provide Veterinary medicine at 50% subsidy on the MRP on demand, 24/7 throughout the year. In addition, Goa Dairy also provides feed suppliments, mineral mixture, milk enhancers etc. to the farmers associated with Goa Dairy at 50% subsidy on the MRP.

ii) Liquid Nitrogen (LN₂) is supplied to AI workers for free.

6. Artificial Insemination (A.I.) Services

Artificial Insemination (A.I.) Services are provided 24/7 throughout the year to the dairy farmer members.Total 12 AI centres cater the AI services at the doorstep of the dairy farmer. We provide high quality and high pedigree crossbred semen for breeds such as Holstein Friesian , Jersey Sahiwal, Jersey Sahiwal Cross breed, Murrha, Pandharpuri straws (HF-50356, HX-50158, JY-50074, JYCB 50397, HF-50361, HX-50158, JY-50075, JYCB 50396, Murrha (MR) 50136, PD 50355).

7. Implementation of various State & Central Government schemes regarding dairy development in the State of Goa

i) National Milk Recording Programme NMRP)

ii) National Programme for Dairy Development (NPDD)

iii) Rashtriya Gokul Mission (RGM)

8. Life Insurance Schemes

i) For Farmers: Goa Dairy Offers financial protection in unforeseen circumstances for dairy farmers associated with Goa Dairy with Life Insurance Scheme.In this scheme, 75% premium amount is paid by Primary Dairy Co-operative Societies & 25% of the premium is paid by Goa Dairy. It aims to provide financial security for their families in case of the farmer’s death.The schemes offer a lump sum payment on death of farmer, to help the family manage financial hardships and ensure a smooth transition.

ii) For AI Workers: Personal Accident Insurance scheme named Saral Suraksha Bima is offered to AI workers by Goa Dairy.

9. Supply of Cattle Feed and Fodder

1. 1. Goa Dairy is Providing Quality feed and fodder provided at Reasonable rate to dairy farmers through Primary Dairy Cooperative Societies (DCS).

1. Maize seeds i.e. African tall seeds are provided to the farmers associated with Goa Dairy at 50% subsidy on the MRP

2. Fodder Cultivation guidance is given to the farmers.

3. Stem cuttings and various multicut varieties of perineal grasses are provided to the dairy farmers.

10. Handholding support to the FPO

Goa Dairy acts a CBBO which assist in the implementation of the programme as suggested by the National Project Management Agency (NPMA) and as per Scheme. It assist in community mobilization – baseline survey, cluster finalization, value chain study, formation of groups and FPO and assist in their periodic meetings guidelines. CBBO has formed GOAN FEED SECURITY FPO PRODUCER COMPANY LIMITED, under Central Sector Scheme “Formation & Promotion of Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs)”. CBBO extends help for implementation of their various activities like cultivation of fodder and trading supply of feed, silage, kadbakutti in operation & extension of their business so that FPO can become self sufficient.
